When are Morale Boat Certification classes held?
Classes will be available in the spring and will be held once a month until Fall. If you are interested in attending, please email CWO Christopher Marquez at Christopher.Marquez@uscg.mil.
Do I need to recertify to use Morale Boats?
Yes. All qualified members NEED to go through a refresher course in the beginning of each season. The Regional MWR Director will send a notification.
Once I complete the class, how quickly can I start using the boats?
Once you receive the qualification card from the MWR Regional Director (CWO Marquez).
How do I get qualified to rent boats overnight?
Email the MWR Regional Director to receive the qualification package.
When and how do I submit a Sail Plan?
Sail Plans need to be submitted at minimum 3 days before your reservation date. Do not wait until last minute, as you will not be authorized to use the boat without an approved Sail Plan.
Where and when do I pick up the keys for my rental boat?
Keys will be held by Station Ketchikan watchstander. You will need to provide approved booking to be able to receive the boat keys.
How do I pay for the boat rental?
Across the Station Ketchikan watchstander booth there will be envelopes and a drop box. Grab an envelope, fill it out, put the money inside and put the envelop in the drop box. Proceed to the watchstander for the keys.
Can I can cancel my reservation?
Yes, you can go to my bookings, upcoming, select, and cancel.
Can I do Half-Day bookings?
Yes. If the boat is available, half-day bookings will be considered after 1100 the day of. You would need to call Station Ketchikan OOD at 907-617-3952 and notify them about last minute Sail Plan approval.
Do I need to provide a deposit for my booking?
Yes, a $200 deposit will be required on your first booking only. The MWR Regional Director will hold your deposit, and once the season ends, you will be refunded your deposit.
